An immersive and kaleidoscopic ocean of light pulses in the Solari Gallery on the second floor of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History in downtown Santa Cruz. The lights that fill the space, along with accompanying music, is an interactive installation created by U.K.-based digital arts collective Squidsoup, which will be on display through Jan. 2. Each step, touch, noise and shift from visitors to the gallery elicits responses from thousands of lights that dangling from the ceiling to the floor. The project is the culmination of a five-year research project exploring interactive media by Squidsoup which has resulted in a hybrid environment where virtual and physical worlds collide. The MAH, at 705 Front St., is currently open from noon to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. (Shmuel Thaler/Santa Cruz Sentinel)
