BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls.

All calls may not be reported.

Thursday, Oct. 7

• Suspicious activity was reported in the 800 block of South State Street. A caller advised he was getting threatening text messages on a newly issued number. It was believed to be for a previous owner of the phone.

• A civil matter was reported in the 1300 block of Catherine Street. It was originally called in as a threats complaint by a resident against another resident. Two residents were arguing with each other. No threats were made. The second resident later called in a threats complaint against the first caller, advised them the matter was civil as no one had actually been threatened. They were advised to contact management regarding alleged rule violations.

• Suspicious activity was reported in the 1100 block of Platt Avenue. A caller found a basement window open. There were no signs it had been forced open.

• A property damage accident was reported near State Street and Perry Avenue.

• A property damage accident was reported in the 700 block of Perry Avenue.

• A harassment complaint was made at the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety office. A man advised that his ex is continually calling and texting him. The ex advised the same about caller. Both were advised to leave each other alone.

• A traffic stop for an expired plate resulted in the driver being cited for no insurance.

• A loud noise complaint was reported in the 700 block of North Fourth Avenue. Police issued a written warning.

• A loud noise complaint was reported in the 700 block of Woodward Avenue. Police issued a written warning. A total of six minor in possession of alcohol tickets were issued.

Friday, Oct. 8

• Big Rapids police officers assisted with an unruly student in the 500 block of North Warren Avenue.

• A civil matter over rent was reported in the 600 block of Adams Street.

• A property damage accident was reported near State Street and Perry Avenue.

• Property was found in the 400 block of West Pine Street. A backpack was found behind a residence. Police attempted to contact the owner’s phone.

• Suspicious activity was reported in the 200 block of South Warren Avenue. A woman called in reference to another woman needing assistance. The caller was concerned the other woman may be in danger.

• A man was arrested in the 200 block of Baldwin Street. The man had been drinking and punched a window. He was arrested for disorderly.

• A loud noise complaint was reported in the 100 block of North Stewart Street. Residents were cited for their party. The padlock ordinance was explained as this was their second offense in a month.

• While responding to another call, officers noticed a car sitting through a green light near State and Maple streets. The driver was asleep. He woke up and drove off. He finally stopped in the 100 block of East Pine Street. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

• Homeowners awoke to find a subject sleeping in a lawn chair behind their house in the 400 block of Rust Avenue. The owners knew the subject.

Saturday, Oct. 9

• A civil matter was reported in the 800 block of Water Tower Road. A man had been staying at the motel and broke a television in his room. The man made arrangements to pay for the damage prior to arrival.

• A probation agent contacted Big Rapids police officers requesting a woman be picked up for multiple probation violations. The woman located and arrested. A marijuana and pipe were found on her during arrest. She was lodged at the Mecosta County Jail.

• A loud noise complaint was reported in the 400 block of Bailey Street. Residents were having a bonfire, playing music, and drinking. Several minor in possession of alcohol tickets and a written warning was issued.

• A domestic incident was reported in the 200 block of Ives Avenue. A man was lodged for domestic and interfering with 911. A woman had a PPO against the man, but it had not been served.

Sunday, Oct. 10

• Larceny of mailboxes was reported in the 600 block of Woodward Avenue.

• A traffic stop near Catherine and Baldwin streets resulted in a driver being arrested for operating while intoxicated.

• A traffic stop in the 100 block of South Third Avenue resulted in a driver being arrested for a felony weapons offense out of Osceola County.
